I work for a college and we have events for which we want students to register. However, we also need to collect the student's ID number to identify them as they register. Is there any way to add another field (preferably a required field) to the event registration form?
Add required field to event registration?

Hi superBadGirl,
Yes, we can change your event submission form to accommodate this. But first, you will need to create a new event type (and it sounds like you want to include a custom field, perhaps called "Student ID"). Instructions on how to create a new event type can be found here.
This step is also mentioned here as quoted:
Thus after you've created the new event type, send an e-mail to support@corp.trumba.com and let them know you would like a change made to your submission form. Provide the name of the new event type, and they can enable your event submission form to use it.
If the students are submitting their student ID to the submission form, I assume that information is not being published? Or if it is, I hope that it doesn't raise any concerns with the students.
Hopefully this makes sense and helps!

Hi superBadGirl.
Adam gave you some great information about event submission forms but I'm wondering if that's precisely what you were referring to.
I think you said students need to register for events rather than submit events. So I am assuming you would publish events with open registration so students could sign up to attend and part of that sign up process would involve putting their student id in a field when they register.
Right now, you can't add fields to events that people who register actually fill in during the registration process. However, there is a workaround that you could use.
In the Notes field for the events for which you want students to register, type Please type your student ID in the Comment field. When students click the Sign Up button on the published calendar, they will see this note on the registration page. Everyone who registers has an opportunity to type a comment along with their response. Students could type their student IDs into the Comment box.
Obviously, your event information would be very different but this image gives you an idea of how the registration window would look:

It would be great to be able to add fields to a registration form that people could fill in. I'll create a feature request for that. Thanks. I hope this helps some.

Thanks! That is what I needed, to ask those who are registering for the event for their student ID. I will add that to the comment field, as you described. Thanks for putting in that feature request, it would really be great to have a separate field for ID numbers.

Hi superBadGirl and others who might be interested in this feature.
I just wanted to follow up because I talked with the developer about the ability to add fields that event registrants to fill out. That definitely is in our future development plans. A few other event registration features are higher priority at the moment so I'm not sure exactly when the feature will be available but we do have it in our plans.
