Hi,
I am tryiing to figure out if there is a way to update all instances of a specific field within an event calendar, without having to open each specific event individually. For example, if I add a custom field to my event, titled "price", is there a way for me to fill that field with the same price, from a central location, in order to save the time it would take to edit each individual event, since they will all cost the same.
Thanks for your help,
Steve

Hi Steve,
Unfortunately at the moment, although it would be a wonderful feature, there isn't a good way that I know of to do a global change like this through the UI. If you don't have many recurring events, one thing that comes to mind is to export the calendar to a CSV file, edit the file in a text editor or Excel to change all of your events to the event type that uses the new field, and populate the field for all of them, then import it back into Trumba.
If you do have a fair number of recurring events, this probably would not work, because CSV doesn't support recurrence. So the events would get imported back into Trumba as single events. (By the way, ICS supports recurrence, but not the custom fields/event types.)
If you want to try the CSV export option, let me know, and I can explain more how to configure the exported file to import it back into Trumba with the new field and values. If you know that the CSV option won't work, there might be a way to do this via the RSS or ATOM feed, and I can do some checking around if you think that might be the only hope. I'll also just double-check and do some testing to make sure that those are the only options. A few things have actually started churning in my head as I write this.
I'll add your vote to the feature request for this, too, because I know you're not the only one who would like to do this.

Hi again, Steve,
Nancy just pointed out something that didn't occur to me when I posted my previous message. The response I gave applies only to existing events to which you want to add the price field.
You *can* set a default value for a custom field so that all new events that use the field will have the field populated already. I'll add that our developer recently added default value overrides, which you can set per calendar or event type (so that you don't have to have one default value apply in all cases where you use the field).
Here's more info about setting custom field default values, and more about overriding the default field value for a calendar or event type.
If you were talking about new events in your message, I'm so sorry I didn't catch that the first time. Thanks to Nancy for asking about it!
