Hi

this is a half question as it's almost answered elsewhere, but also I just plain want to ask it as I see you're considering "group rates" and I think you should consider my position as it must affect others.

I want a family calendar. I want to be able to log in and add/edit stuff, and so does my wife. We could be at opposite ends of the house consulting or modifying the schedules at the same moment. We've tried using the same login but get odd things happen so I suppose it's not designed to work that way.

Do we really need to have an account each?! That's $40 (x2) ... $80!

$40/yr for a family calendar that we can both use is something I'd definitely consider, but $80 is getting like serious money when there are free alternatives like Yahoo calendar etc. I'd love to use but it's looking too expensive - it's not like we're a business :D

Anyway, a family $40/yr special would swing it for me if it had separate logins to basically the same account.

Or maybe I'm missing the point and there's another way to do this?

Hi zimbop,
You do understand correctly, and your situation is one of the most common one we hear about -- that is, a couple who wants to share their calendar and each just wants to log in to the same account.

I really appreciate that you gave us such a good summary, so that I can copy it verbatim to send to business development. I'm sorry I can't offer you more helpful information or solutions at this time, but if anything changes in the future, we'll post the new info here on the forums.

I completely agree. I'm just trying this out today for the first time, and slowly starting to understand that this is the deal - or in our case, the deal-breaker. i thought for a moment about using a single login, but i want both of our outlook calendars to synch (and to do things above-board).

for $80 a month, i'll continue to call my wife to make sure a particular night is free instead! i was willing to pay some (read: $40, not $80) for enhanced features and a nicer interface, but yahoo is doing essentially the same thing for free.

i hope you'll email your expired-trial users (as i will be in 59 days) when your pricing changes...i look forward to it!

Hi andrewconrad,

Thanks for trying out Trumba OneCalendar and for visiting our forum.

It's probably just a typo and you meant $80/year rather than $80/month for 2 accounts. Because others are likely reading along, I want to mention that our subscription price is $39.95/year per account.

I think what we offer is a great value. But, I do understand the quandary faced by families. We don't have a "calendar sharing" only type account to offer. Right now, for $39.95, there's a lot one can do including publish a calendar of events on the web, send out scheduled email digests to a distribution list etc.

You can be sure that the feedback is getting to the right people. I'm sorry we don't have a solution that would address your pricing concerns at this time.

Sincerely,

Yep, just a typo. I'm unwilling to pay the $80 a year for my wife and I to share our calendars.

Publishing, emailing, etc, are great functions for little league teams, the school play, a small office, and so on. However, I understand that the core audience here is family scheduling - 2 synched work calendars, with family obligations, vacations, etc. I'm in that group, and I'm telling you no thanks at your current price point.

As helpful and well-designed as your service appears, I can't bring myself to pay $80 a year for what is essentially an elective efficiency (rather than a fixed/mandatory expense).

please add me to any notification lists you maintain, should the pricing schedule be improved.

Hi andrewconrad, zimbop and anyone else reading along.

We've had a couple scenarios where a family is able to use just one Trumba OneCalendar account and be able to see their family schedule. Of course, if two people are going to be using Trumba OneCalendar to edit and maintain their daily schedules then two accounts would be necessary. But, if one spouse is using Outlook, there might be a comfortable workable workflow using just one Trumba OneCalendar Account.

Here are some scenarios:

a) The husband uses Outlook at work. The wife uses the family Trumba OneCalendar Account. His Outlook schedule is synced to a calendar in the family account. Further, because the wife's work schedule varies day to day sometimes quite radically, she simply has a work schedule calendar in Trumba that she maintains for herself, so they have the information readily available to both of them. Her husband has two easy ways he can see her schedule: 1) He can sync the information to a second Outlook calendar so he has the data available in Outlook or 2) she can publish her calendar (or all three of the calendars they maintain in their Trumba family account) on the web with a password. I'm not sure which path they've chosen. They have a third family calendar, where they put shared events and also have those events show on their individual calendars.

b) Both spouses use Outlook to maintain their schedule. They use the family Trumba OneCalendar account to have a place where they can see each other's information. For technical and licensing reasons, we do not recommend more than one person logging in to the same account (same email and password) to edit calendars at the same time. Publishing the shared calendars with a password is one way to address this.

c) A couple who is divorced uses their Trumba OneCalendar account to simply to manage their children's schedule rather than share their actual schedules. They have the option to sync their kids' schedule with individual Outlook Calendars (making a separate calendar in Outlook). For them the shared calendar is a type of family log. They have a typical schedule that occasionally changes due to travel etc. The intent eventually is to have the kids have a place where they can view their schedule...and publishing with a password might prove to be a workable answer.

d) One spouse uses Outlook at a small business but doesn't have a lot of meetings and appointments, and the other spouse uses Trumba OneCalendar. Their preferred approach is to not have multiple calendars, but to have just a single calendar in which both their events and the kids’ events appear. The spouse who uses Outlook wishes to see the entire family’s events on their Outlook calendar.

Hope this information helps.

I agree completely with the sentiments of the potential users above - I want this to help with our family's schedule, and $40 could fit in our budget but $80 is more like business pricing.

I appreciate your coming up with scenarios that would work, and maybe I'll think about them some more, but what I really want is two accounts (for me and my wife) at an affordable price. Or, better yet, a family account that has logins for me, my wife and, in the future, one for each kid. But at $40 per person we'll have to do without.
