Before I go too deeply into Trumba, is this applicable to a Convention and Visitor Bureau? I want a system that visitors to our web site can use to, for example search for what kind of biking experiences they can find in our county in July, or what events will be held at a certain Convention Center in August. In addition I would like the individual communities or attractions to be able to submit their own calendars to be posted with us as kind of a clearing house.
Also would those visitors be able to print the calendars in multiple formats easily.
I think I understand from reading some of the forum that each attraction or community could have their own calendar on their website, but I don't understand how they would be linked to ours. I am sure that the answers are all here, I just don't even know where to start to search for them.
I have no problem hiring a designer to customize those parts of Trumba that are customizable, I just need to know if this is the right program to start from.
Thanks.

Hi coopsen,
Thanks for asking about Trumba! I'll try to answer all of your questions. First, yes, I believe it's applicable to your situation. Here's an example of a similar type of organization that has a really nice Trumba implementation: Visit Bristow OK.
>>search for what kind of biking experiences they can find in our county in July<<
Search features are coming very soon, but they're not there in the current version. However, if you categorize events by calendar and allow filtering, people can display events by category and/or events that contain a specific field, such as biking experiences in July. These two topics might get you started: Allow calendar visitors to filter events and Organize events from multiple calendars.
>>I would like the individual communities or attractions to be able to submit their own calendars to be posted with us as kind of a clearing house<<
You can get a submission form set up, but the way it works is that the individual communities would submit events rather than calendars. You'd then have the calendars to which you'd add those submitted events. You can set it up so that you approve the events before they go live on your site, or you can just let them go live without approval.
Another way is, if the individual communties use Trumba Pro, they could share their calendars with you with re-publishing permission.
With either approach, you can mix those calendars into your own or publish each of them separately. You would have to experiment with how you wanted this to happen. Others might categorize events differently than you, so the ways visitors can search for events on other communities' calendars might be different than for your calendars. If the other communities don't use Trumba Pro, then the only option for getting their events onto your site is for them to use the submission form.
You can find info on the submission form process here: Add an event submission form to your website.
>>would those visitors be able to print the calendars in multiple formats easily<<
Yes, if you embed your calendar into your website, you can also embed a "template chooser" that lets visitors select from a number of different views. You can see this on the Bristow, OK calendar page.
>>each attraction or community could have their own calendar on their website, but I don't understand how they would be linked to ours<<
I'm not sure I understand correctly the part about linking to yours. They could have a regular old hyperlink to your calendar page on their calendar page. Or they could embed upcoming events spuds that show events from your calendars. Then when visitors click an event in the spud, they go to your site/calendar. The way it works now, though, they'd have to be careful to put this on a page that didn't have spuds for their own calendar. Also, there wouldn't be a way to link back to the other community's calendar, and it could get a little confusing for visitors as to which calendar they're visiting. So I'm not sure whether that approach would be as useful in the situation I'm envisioning. If you can show me an example of what you want to do, I might be able to give you a better idea of whether/how you could do it.
Hope this gets you started!

This person is asking for the same thing alot of of us seem to want - to be able to mix-in non-trumba public calendar feeds into our Trumba calendar (which then gets syndicated on other sites elsewhere), as you can with Google for example.
Trumba's core selling points wouldn't be undermined by a feature like this. Especially if it's a paid-account only feature!
My 2¢.
