Sub-Calendar display

Recommended Posts

Guest

In a published page or an embedded calendar display - how can I have the sub calendars available for users to check, but not have them cheked?

I would like the main calendar to be visible and allow Web surfers to check the sub calendar of choice - with all the sub calendars visible the calendar looks like a mess and no one really want to see all the sub calendars together - only the main and one or two other sub.

Thanks for the help.

Hi computerwiz,

That's a great question. In step 3 of the publishing wizard, you can enable the mix-in control, which gives people the option of selecting which calendars they want to display. (And you probably have tried that.) I couldn't find a way to publish a calendar with others mixed in, but not have the mix ins display at first. I can ask around and post more info if I get any. If not, I'll log this as a feature request. I think it'd be nice to be able to do it.

Thanks Jill,

Yes, I tried many times, it seems like the settings would allow you to turn on the feature yet not check the checkmarks of the sub calendars and it would show the right calendar but no!

The only work around I found was to publish a different calendar for each sub calendar and have a page on the site that points to each sub calendar. Of course that still does not allow seeing the general events and that "teams" events. Each team has a sub calendar.

It seems that when embedding the calendar into a web page and entering the “pointing Java script” a parameter could be passed to uncheck all the sub calendars.

Our application of that feature is to have a main calendar that everyone looks at; then each team can click on their sub calendar and find out how it interacts within the main calendar; without being clogged up with the other teams calendar.

Can you ask the programmers if there is a “pointing Java script parameter”? If not I would greatly appreciated it if you add this request to the feature request.

Thanks,

Hi ComputerWiz,

I'm sorry for the delay in response. I was able to ask one of the developers about this. He said that what you suggest is possible, but we just don't support it right now. However, he and everyone else thinks the option to not have mixed-in calendars displayed all at once when you publish was a really good idea. I don't know exactly when it'll be implemented, but it will be in the relatively near future.

I hope this helps.
