permalinks and position

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Any reason why when you click an event title from a calendar spud, it doesn't update your browser with the permalink, rather than #/?i=1 ...And when you click the permalink and then click the back to calendar link it doesn't update the browser from ?trumbaEmbed=view%3Devent%26eventid%3D103359091 back to the original link without it? That doesn't make sense because if you then go to a different event, the permalink from the previous event is still showing. That can cause problems.

It should be something that happens for all spuds. It is what currently happens when clicking an event from a promotion spud.

And finally, if a calendar is long and you go to the bottom and click an event, you then have to scroll up to see the details rather than it taking you to the event title. I mentioned this before with the event submission form, but didn't realize it was the same for the spud. Please take a look at my page and let me know if it is just my pc causing it. I tested it in several browsers. http://www.asingularcreation.com/calls-to-artists.php. Try going to the very bottom event and clicking it. Please let me know if the detail page takes you to the top, or do you have to scroll to see the details.

thanks,

Joe

Joe,

I sent you an email on this, however if any other use is having this issue, currently the only way to make the history work in Internet Explorer 8+ is to include the EmulateIE7 meta tag to the HTML Source:

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" />

This is a limitation of the javascript library we are using to handle browser history. Our development team continuously checks these libraries for updates and currently there is no fix for this. Once we have an update available I will update this post.

Thanks,

Steve

Thanks Steve. Unfortunately, i can no longer use <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" /> because imitating the ie7 browser messes up other functionality, as it is a very outdated browser.

Do you know if your developers have any plans to change the way trumba spuds handle url updating? It would much better in y opinion if when you clicked on an event from a trumba calendar, it actually updated the browser with the full url or the event, like it does for promotion spud, rather than just add a hash. If a user goes to a direct link to an event on my site: http://www.asingularcreation.com/calls-to-artists.php?trumbaEmbed=view%3Devent%26eventid%3D105484476 from a newsletter or from Facebook, then clicks the "back to calendar" link, the link does not change. Then when the click a different event, it shows the link from the other event. Therefore when people try to share it, they share the wrong link, unless they know to click the "link to this" link to update the link. Most times, they do not.

Anyway, just a suggestion which I think would make the entire browser history and link issue much better.

thanks,
joe
