pubDate usage in RSS?

I would like to suggest that the pubDate attribute of an RSS item be changed.

For future events, it would be very nice to have the event start time in the pubDate element.

Other calendar services (Eventful, Google, etc.) all do this.

RSS readers then show that event's time, and even sort the items by date time or show how many hours/days to go before the event.

Google does it best, where they have a "published" date (the event's date, in the future) and an "updated" date (when you changed the information).

We do have users that do require the pubDate parameter so we are not able to remove this parameter, however you can use a variety of different URL parameters to build your own query strings. For example, you may want to append your RSS URL with ?xcal=1 to include xCal-namespace data. Here is a link to a help topic on how to customize feeds:
